SEAWINGS 1st field testing campaign
The SEAWINGS technical teams achieved an important internal milestone with the successful completion of the first field tests of the newly integrated SEAWINGS vehicle. The one-week field test campaign focused on preparing, transporting, and validating the UAV, followed by a series of ground, flotation, and water-navigation tests.
The testing campaign provided the technical teams with valuable insights into the operationalisation and behaviour of the integrated platform under real-world conditions. Several important ground and water-based tests were successfully completed, generating valuable data and practical experience to support the continued development and validation of the UAV. At the same time, the campaign highlighted several areas requiring further adaptation, optimisation, and technical improvements.
Building on the outcomes and lessons learned from this campaign, the team will now focus on implementing the necessary adaptations to the platform and preparing for the next round of field testing. The findings from this first campaign will provide an important foundation for improving the platform’s performance, reliability, and overall readiness for subsequent validation activities.
SEAWINGS Progress meeting in Madrid, Spain (October 2025)
The SEAWINGS project held another in-person progress meeting on October 29-30 at project partner’s UPM, in Madrid, Spain. This meeting brought together all project partners to review ongoing work and plan future steps, while it also involved Advisory Board members that joined roadmapping efforts.
The first day of the meeting focused on updates from each partner, highlighting progress and challenges across the various work packages. The session began with a review of overall project management and coordination, during which key updates were shared. Following the management session, attention turned to the technical and time-sensitive work packages. These presentations fostered valuable exchanges of ideas, particularly regarding how different SEAWINGS vehicle components could be integrated to operate effectively as a whole. In fact, a great part of the discussion reflected on the integration and testing of the SEAWINGS vehicle, planned for the near future.
The second day was dedicated to a roadmapping session. During this session both project partners and Advisory Board members joined efforts in defining the current state of the project and jointly mapping ways forward that can lead to further development and implementation of the SEAWINGS concept.
SEAWINGS Progress meeting in Porto, Portugal (March 2025)
The SEAWINGS project held a productive progress meeting on March 26–27 at the ISEP Hub of INESC TEC in Porto, Portugal. This gathering brought together all project partners to review ongoing work and plan future steps.
The first day focused on updates from each partner, highlighting progress and challenges across the various work packages. The session began with a review of overall project management and coordination, during which key updates were shared. Notably, the consortium bid farewell to some departing colleagues and welcomed new members into the team.
Following the management session, attention turned to the technical and time-sensitive work packages. These presentations fostered valuable exchanges of ideas, particularly regarding how different SEAWINGS vehicle components could be integrated to operate effectively as a whole.
The second day was dedicated to an ad-hoc technical session. This collaborative discussion provided a platform for partners to delve deeper into technical topics and share their perspectives on the future direction of SEAWINGS.
